Littler Secures Sixth Major as Ally Pally Looms

Luke Littler will head to Ally Pally next month in unstoppable form after capturing his sixth
major televised ranking title of the year, defeating Nathan Aspinall 11-8 in a thrilling Players
Championship Finals showdown. In his first tournament since becoming world No.1, the 18-
year-old proved once again why he is darts’ most dominant rising force.

The early stages saw Littler and Aspinall trade heavy blows before The Nuke carved out a two-
leg cushion after the tenth. He soon stretched his advantage to 8-4, but a gritty Aspinall fought
back, punishing loose darts to close the gap to 8-6 and later 9-8 after Littler missed double 12.
However, the teenager held his nerve, reclaiming control with his reliable double ten before
sealing the title with a composed double six.

Averaging 103.33, Littler banked the £120,000 top prize and avenged last year’s loss to Luke
Humphries. The victory means he has now won every major televised darts event at just 18
years old, including the World Championship, UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix,
and Grand Slam of Darts.

With the Sid Waddell Trophy on the horizon, he enters the festive tournament as the
overwhelming favourite — and is on track to become the sport’s first £1million champion.
Should he collect the Masters and European Championship next year, Littler would complete a
clean sweep of all premier singles titles before turning 19.

Reflecting on the triumph, Littler admitted the route to the final wasn’t simple, saying he had to
“dig in” against an in-form Aspinall. Meanwhile, the runner-up praised Littler’s brilliance,
joking about the energy gap between an 18-year-old and a 34-year-old after a draining weekend
on the oche.

With momentum firmly behind him, all eyes now shift to Ally Pally — where Littler aims to cap
off a historic year with yet another monumental win.
